"The Australian Shepherd is intelligent, primarily a working dog of strong herding and guardian instincts. He is an exceptional companion. He is versatile and easily trained, performing his assigned tasks with great style and enthusiasm."— ASCA Breed Standard To this statement, we say Amen! This sums up the Aussie in just a few short sentences. My husband often says "You have never owned a dog until you have owned an Aussie". We have owned Aussies since 1962 and truly believe they are the best all-around dog you can own. With an instinctively high energy level, they are loyal, faithful, intelligent companions that strive to please whether they are demonstrating agility, obedience, fly ball maneuvers, frisbee acrobatics, herding, tracking skills or just being that special companion and family member. We believe in the foundation-bred Aussie, one that gets back to the breed's "genetic" grass roots. This is what makes an Aussie such a wonderful dog that lives up to the Breed Standard. All of our dogs are double-registered AKC and ASCA. We strive to better the breed with each litter through our relationships with quality breeders including Hall of Famer Fairoaks Kennel in Potomac, Illinois. The Fairoaks bloodlines are some of the best foundation breeding you can find and have produced many International and National Champions, and multiple titles in Confirmation, Agility, Herding and Obedience. We are grateful to Fairoaks Kennel and Breeder/Judge Sandy Cornwell for their outstanding contributions to the advancement of the breed. We would also like to thank Cristal Russell of Diamond Oaks Kennel for being a special friend and for the wonderful dogs that have contributed to the litters of Levi Country for the past 18 years. All of our puppies are sold on a contract and are guaranteed against hereditary Hip Dysplasia, Collie Eye Anomaly and hereditary Juvenile Cataracts. We strive to place our puppies in the best suited homes possible. We raise 1 to 2 litters per year, and all of our puppies begin receiving human interaction at birth and continue to receive a lot of daily personal attention. We do not let our puppies go to their new home until they are 8 weeks old because we feel that they need time to develop their social skils, and that they will adjust to a new home quicker when they reach this age. During this 8 weeks, all of our puppies are wormed several times and receive their first two series of vaccinations. All puppies receive a puppy kit complete with full pedigree, an informational booklet on raising a puppy, breed information, health records, contact information and a small package of the current puppy food they are eating. Our prices range from $500 to $1200 depending upon conformation, sex and color. We strive for quality pups that are uniform in conformation with each litter, but not every pup may be "pet-quality". But doesn't it make sense to buy a pup or dog that is genetically healthy, rather than one that may experience health issues later on? Levi Country Kennel is a member of the Purina Pro Club and is proud to feed Purina® brand dog food to all of our dogs. We would love to hear from you and talk about our love for the Aussie, so please feel free to contact us. |
